Juha-Pekka Pitkänen, Chief Technology Officer at Solar Foods, has been appointed as the new chairperson of IBC Finland. The announcement was made during the network's Autumn General Meeting on November 14, 2025.
Pitkänen succeeds Veli-Matti Vuorenpalo, Manager, Global Processes and Projects for R&D at Kemira, who has led the network with dedication and vision. IBC Finland extended its heartfelt gratitude to Veli-Matti for his tireless effort in advancing industrial biotechnology initiatives and strengthening the network's influence.
The meeting also featured a keynote presentation by Ulla Palander, Senior Advisor at the Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. Palander provided insights into the Ministry’s bioeconomy and biotechnology strategies, including Finland's advocacy within the EU and the anticipated EU Biotech Act.
